The new L-shaped strip mall designed for the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation contains thirteen leasable retail spaces of several sizes.  One of the design criteria requested by the Client was to consider a Feng Shui approach.  This entailed creating a strong and clear flow of energy to the front entrance by allowing fresh window displays, appropriate colours to the exterior finishes and a red door at the front entrance to activate and attract positive energy.  Natural exterior finishes were preferred such as wood siding, wood columns and river stones.

Treatment of the frontage also contributed to the Feng Shui approach by planting trees and shrubs near the sidewalk, a canopy over the entrance and gentle curved pathways to the front doors.
